Privacy policy

DidgElement takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. This page explains what data is collected on the didgelement.com website, why, how long it is kept and how to exercise your rights, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi « Informatique et libertés »).

Data controller

DidgElement – Christian Gueret, La Jolie Colo, 110 chemin de Dédain Dessus, 38880 Autrans-Méaudre en Vercors, France. Contact: contact@didgelement.com – +33 6 18 92 67 52.

Data collected and purposes

Contact form

When you write to me using the contact form, you provide your name, your email address, possibly your phone number, and your message. This data is used solely to reply to your request (advice, quote, ordering an instrument). Legal basis: your request and pre-contractual measures taken at your request (article 6.1.b of the GDPR).

Your message is sent to me by email at contact@didgelement.com, hosted by Infomaniak (Switzerland). A technical copy of the message is kept in the site’s email log for 30 days maximum, to check that messages are delivered correctly.

Orders

If you reserve or buy an instrument, the information needed for the order is processed: name, contact details, delivery and billing address, order history. Legal basis: performance of the contract (article 6.1.b) and compliance with accounting obligations (article 6.1.c). Online payments, when offered, are processed by a secure payment provider; DidgElement never has access to your bank details.

Audience measurement

The site uses Independent Analytics, a statistics tool hosted on the site itself, without cookies and without transferring data to any third party. It anonymously measures page views, where visits come from and the type of device, in order to improve the site. Legal basis: DidgElement’s legitimate interest (article 6.1.f).

Technical logs

The addresses of pages not found (404 errors) are logged for 60 days, without IP addresses, in order to fix broken links. The host also keeps connection logs for the security of the service, according to its own legal retention periods.

Retention periods

  • Contact requests with no follow-up: 3 years from the last exchange.
  • Customer data: for the duration of the business relationship and the warranty period (2 years), then 3 years for marketing purposes, unless you object.
  • Invoices and accounting records: 10 years (legal requirement).
  • Site email log: 30 days maximum. Log of pages not found: 60 days.

Recipients and processors

Your data is never sold or rented. It is accessible only to DidgElement and, for technical purposes, to its service providers:

  • Liquid Web, LLC (Nexcess service), the website host, with servers located in the United Kingdom;
  • Infomaniak Network SA, host of the contact@didgelement.com mailbox, with servers located in Switzerland;
  • Google (Google Maps on the Contact page, YouTube videos);
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile anti-spam protection on forms);
  • the payment provider and the carrier, for orders;
  • Origami agency, for the technical maintenance of the site.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Union (United Kingdom, United States). These transfers are governed by an adequacy decision of the European Commission (United Kingdom, EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Cookies and external content

DidgElement sets no advertising or audience-measurement cookies. Only technical cookies may be used, for example for a shopping cart or the administration area to work.

Some pages include content from third-party services:

  • YouTube videos: they use privacy-enhanced mode and only load when you click play. The video on the home page is hosted directly on the site and does not use any third-party service. YouTube may then set cookies and collect data in accordance with its own policy.
  • Google Maps (Contact page): displaying the map sends your IP address to Google, which may set cookies.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile anti-spam protection (forms): the check sends technical information (IP address, browser) to Cloudflare to tell a human visitor from a bot. Fonts are hosted on the site itself: no data is sent to Google Fonts.

To find out more: Google’s privacy policy. You can also set your browser to refuse third-party cookies.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, as well as the right to object to its processing and the right to set guidelines regarding what happens to it after your death. To exercise these rights, write to contact@didgelement.com or to the postal address above; you will receive a reply within one month.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (French data protection authority): www.cnil.fr, 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, kept up to date and backed up. Access to the administration area is restricted to authorised persons.
